Champlain Valley Agency on Aging (CVAA) Raises $45,000 to Support
Meals on Wheels in Northwestern Vermont
[Essex Junction, VT] (March 17, 2016) -
During the month of March, CVAA participated in Meals on Wheels of America's March for Meals campaign, enlisting the help of prominent officials and local businesses to raise awareness and over $45,000 to support seniors in need. Birchwood Terrace Healthcare, University of Vermont Medical Center, Shearer Automotive and Langrock, Sperry & Wool were among the top donors, with over 30 businesses contributing.
"This past year Champlain Valley Agency on Aging served over 225,000 meals to local seniors and that need is rapidly increasing," said Sara Wool, Director of Development & Communications at Champlain Valley Agency on Aging. "Every person deserves to age well and with the support of the community and area businesses, we believe that we can continue to meet the increasing needs of Vermont seniors."
As the largest Meals on Wheels provider in Vermont, CVAA oversees more than 60 delivery routes in four counties. With the help of over 350 volunteers and partners, meals are delivered to seniors every day of the week, bringing safety checks, a friendly visitor and food security to thousands of seniors in Vermont who are threatened by hunger and isolation.
